Reasons to Join

When you join the AACP you are joining an association that focuses on supporting all practising consultant physicians and paediatricians, and their patients.

These are just some of the reasons to join the AACP.

  • Advocacy

The AACP represents all Australian consultant physicians and paediatricians in relation to government inquiries, reviews and changes to the health system. The AACP is regularly invited to provide input and advice on matters relating to consultant physicians and paediatricians. This involves extensive work in developing and presenting submissions on behalf of the consultant physician and paediatrician workforce. All Australian consultant physicians and paediatricians and their patients benefit from the AACP’s work.

  • Negotiation

Through the AACP’s successful negotiations with the Australian Government you have two attendance items, MBS items 132 and 133, for use by all consultant physicians and paediatricians. These were the first two new attendance items for consultant physicians and paediatricians in more than 20 years, and they continue to support your practice today.

  • Commitment

The AACP is committed to ensuring Medicare items best reflect the Medicare services you provide and that Medicare benefits available to your patients are appropriate. This involves gaining new attendance items as well as appropriately expanding access to existing items.

  • Direction

The AACP’s strength is in a unified approach that supports all consultant physicians and paediatricians. The AACP has an extensive agenda focused on quality health care for your patients.

  • Show your support

The AACP needs support from many more of the consultant physicians and paediatricians it represents. Your membership fee goes directly towards representation of your interests to ensure your patients receive appropriate Medicare benefits for your services. This requires an ongoing effort and resources to maintain recognition of the consultant physician and paediatrician practice.

Your support makes a difference –
